Job Summary:
ConsultNet Technology Services and Solutions is a premier national provider of technology talent and solutions. They are seeking a skilled Full Stack Java Developer to develop scalable, high-performance applications and collaborate with the frontend team to deliver an intuitive API experience.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain robust backend services using Java 11, Spring Boot, MongoDB, REDIS, and Docker.
• Deploy and manage services via Apache Tomcat.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs with a strong emphasis on OpenAPI/Swagger standards for documentation and contract-first development.
• Be a champion of intuitive API interface design, always keeping the frontend/UI team's needs in mind.
• Assist frontend developers during integration by providing clear, consistent, and well-documented endpoints.
• Utilize fine-tuning techniques to optimize API performance, such as: Connection pool tuning (JDBC, MongoDB), JVM and garbage collection optimization, HTTP thread pool and request queue tuning, Profiling and optimizing slow endpoints, Efficient use of caching layers (e.g., REDIS), Monitor application health and performance using JMX, logs, and other APM tools.
• Ensure excellent HTTP status code management and comprehensive API documentation practices.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5 years of experience in Java development (minimum Java 11).
• Strong understanding of Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Experience with MongoDB, REDIS, Tomcat, and Docker.
• Proficient in designing and documenting RESTful APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Clear understanding of HTTP semantics, status codes, and best practices for API error handling.
• Solid understanding of JVM internals, JMX monitoring, and Java performance tuning techniques.
• Ability to create APIs that are developer-friendly and intuitive for frontend/UI teams to consume.
• Experience working in Agile teams and using tools like Git, Jira, and CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred:
• Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, etc.) to better understand integration pain points.
• Exposure to container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, etc.).
• Familiarity with APM tools like New Relic, Datadog, or Prometheus Grafana.
