Job Summary:

Vay is revolutionizing mobility with their innovative remote driving technology, already operational in Las Vegas. The Analytics Engineer - Operations will play a critical role in enhancing operational efficiency by building data products and collaborating closely with the Operations and Mobility Product teams.

Responsibilities:

• Build and own end-to-end analytics solutions — from data modeling (dbt, SQL) to dashboards and insights delivery (Superset, Grafana, Kepler)

• Act as the go-to data partner for Operations and Mobility Product — deeply embedded in the day-to-day, working alongside Ops and Product leaders to identify opportunities, define KPIs, and continuously improve performance through hands-on, data-driven solutions

• Focus on high-impact operational areas such as fleet readiness and uptime, maintenance performance, charging and positioning optimization, operational efficiency, and overall excellence in day-to-day execution

• Collaborate with other data teams incl. Data Platform and Data Science to all be aligned on data practices at Vay

• Design and maintain self-serve tools (dashboards, alerts, reporting interfaces) to empower Ops teams with real-time visibility and decision-making capabilities (e.g. Superset, Grafana, custom apps)

• Translate business questions into data-driven solutions, blending analytics, product thinking, and operational context

• Set up and manage lightweight operational tooling (e.g., Grafana dashboards, API integrations, observability tools)

Qualifications:

Required:

• Proven track record of impact — you've shipped data products or analyses that directly improved business outcomes

• Expert-level SQL skills — you write complex, performant queries with ease

• Hands-on experience with dbt for building and maintaining data models

• Skilled in BI tools like Superset, Looker, or similar, and in delivering clear, actionable dashboards

• Comfortable working independently, from ideation to delivery — no hand-holding needed

• Experience working with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery)

• Familiarity with modern data tooling, including Fivetran, Airbyte, and reverse ETL tools like Hightouch

• Able to navigate light engineering tasks, such as working with APIs, setting up visualisation tools, or configuring integrations

• Understanding of time-series data and operational metrics, ideally with experience in observability or real-time monitoring setups

Preferred:

• Experience working in fast-paced environments like startups, scale-ups, or operations-heavy businesses

• Familiarity with scripting (Python, JS, etc.) to automate data tasks or build lightweight tools

• Exposure to operational domains like mobility, logistics, fleet, or marketplace

• A product mindset — you think in terms of users, feedback loops, and value, not just queries and pipelines
