We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Permanent Payroll Specialist to join our Accounting Finance team. This is a hybrid role, meaning you will have the flexibility to work from home and in the office. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing multi-state bi-weekly payroll for 100 employees and cross-training in payroll to serve as a backup in other regions.

Responsibilities

• Processing multi-state bi-weekly payroll for 100 employees, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Cross-training in payroll, serving as backup in other regions.
• Reviewing, validating, and reconciling timekeeping data for hourly and salaried employees.
• Administering payroll taxes, payroll deposits, benefit deductions, and third-party remittances.
• Preparing and entering payroll and benefit-related journal entries.
• Performing monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll account reconciliations.
• Leading year-end payroll activities, including W2 preparation, taxable benefit reporting, and multi-state reconciliations.
• Maintaining and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements including payroll tax registrations, rate changes, garnishments, leaves, and benefit eligibility rules.
• Supporting audits, ensuring payroll documentation, controls, and reconciliations are accurate and complete.
  
  

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-state environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
• Experience with payroll software systems is preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
