Our team works on everything from educational and healthcare facilities to industrial developments, commercial buildings, multifamily projects, and specialized concrete construction.

As we plan for the future of our estimating and project management operations, we are looking to bring on a Commercial Concrete Estimator who wants to build a long-term career with an organization that values stability, autonomy, and professional development.

This is not simply an opportunity to prepare bids. We are looking for someone who wants to grow into a key contributor within our organization, working alongside experienced construction leaders and eventually taking ownership of complex commercial concrete projects.

We are open to two types of candidates: experienced commercial concrete estimators or accomplished concrete field leaders, including Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Managers, who are interested in transitioning into estimating.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial and industrial concrete projects.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to understand project scope.
• Calculate materials, labor, equipment, concrete quantities, reinforcement requirements, and other project costs.
• Solicit, review, and evaluate pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Develop accurate, competitive bid proposals for both hard-bid and negotiated projects.
• Participate in preconstruction planning, budgeting, and project evaluations.
• Collaborate with the estimating and operations teams to evaluate constructability, project requirements, and potential challenges.
• Coordinate the transition of awarded projects from estimating into execution.
• Participate in project management responsibilities, including scheduling, subcontractor coordination, cost tracking, and communication with clients.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal team members.
• Take increasing ownership of estimating and project management responsibilities as experience and familiarity with the organization develop.
  

Qualifications:

• Experience in commercial or industrial concrete construction is strongly preferred.
• Previous estimating experience is preferred but not required for candidates with extensive concrete construction experience.
• Experienced Concrete Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers interested in moving into estimating are encouraged to apply.
• Strong understanding of concrete construction methods, sequencing, materials, and field operations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
• Strong mathematical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to accurately calculate material quantities.
• Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of integrity, personal accountability, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a close-knit construction team.
• Interest in building a long-term career and taking on increasing responsibility.
• Ability to work full-time onsite in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
  

Compensation & Benefits:

• Advertised base salary: $80,000–$165,000, depending on experience and qualifications, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
