Job Details
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual mills and lathes to machine stainless and other metals
- Use micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, angle/radius gauges with precision tolerances
- Read/interpret blueprints; identify potential drawing errors and suggest corrections
- Sweep in mill heads/vises; compensate for runout on lathes
- Set up jobs with or without documentation, optimizing feeds/speeds and tooling selection
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process issues to maintain quality and throughput
- Perform basic material handling; complete forklift and overhead crane training
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and quality standards in a busy manufacturing shop
You should have most of the following
- 2 years of hands-on setup and operation of manual mills and lathes
- Proficient with precision metrology (micrometers, calipers, depth gauges) and angle/radius gauges
- Ability to sweep in a mill head/vice and compensate for runout on a lathe
- Understand feeds/speeds and basic G/M codes (for interpreting operations)
- Set up jobs independently with or without formal documentation
- Nice to Have Broaching experience; exposure to Fanuc, Haas, or Hurco controls; basic programming experience
- Ability to complete forklift and overhead crane training; strong safety mindset; reliable team player
