The Administrative Nurse Coordinator plays a vital role in managing and coordinating nursing services within a healthcare facility. Duties
- Oversee and coordinate nursing activities across multiple departments including ICU, emergency medicine, outpatient clinics, and long-term care facilities.
- Manage patient assessments, vital signs, medical documentation, and clinical workflows ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Facilitate discharge planning, case management, and post-acute care coordination to optimize patient transitions between care settings.
- Supervise nursing staff and collaborate with physicians on treatment plans involving complex procedures such as suturing, catheterization, IV infusion, ventilator management, ostomy care, and sterile processing.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during all clinical procedures.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory testing, specimen collection/processing, medical imaging (sonography), and physical examinations.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical records management and documentation of patient care activities.
- Provide leadership in specialized areas such as hospice & palliative medicine, trauma medicine (Level I & II Trauma Centers), infectious disease care, neurocritical care (PICU), neonatal ventilator management, and geriatrics including dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
- Support staff training on new procedures or technology updates like dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments when applicable.
- Maintain compliance with NCQA standards and CPT/ICD coding for billing and documentation accuracy.
Skills
- Extensive clinical expertise across multiple specialties including ICU experience, emergency room experience, medical-surgical units, pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator management), home & community care experience, and post-acute care settings.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is essential.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to medication administration/injections/IV insertion/ventilator management.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques including vital signs monitoring and physical examinations.
- Experience with complex procedures such as tube feeding, gastric lavage, spinal tap, dialysis support (including ostomy care), sonography imaging techniques.
- Ability to manage infection control practices effectively and implement aseptic techniques during all clinical activities.
- Familiarity with Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for working with diverse populations including children with developmental disabilities or seniors requiring memory or dementia care; capable of teaching or coaching patients on health management strategies such as nutrition or health coaching.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes; experience with laboratory testing protocols; familiarity with DME (durable medical equipment).
