Accountabilities:
- Design, architect, and deploy secure VMware vSphere environments leveraging converged and hyperconverged platforms such as VxRail
- Operate and maintain virtual infrastructure and network virtualization using NSX-T
- Monitor performance, capacity, and availability using VMware Aria Operations (vRealize), vCenter alerts, and other monitoring tools
- Ensure compliance with DoD STIGs and Zero Trust security principles across virtual platforms
- Manage VM lifecycle, including provisioning, backups, replication, and decommissioning
- Conduct root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventive measures
- Develop and maintain documentation including diagrams, SOPs, and system baselines
- Coordinate with network, security, and cloud teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Manage patching, hardening, and firmware updates to meet cybersecurity requirements
- Support on-call rotation for 24/7 mission-critical operations
- 5-7 years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere 7.x/8.x, including vCenter, ESXi, and vSAN
- Experience with Dell Power EDGE and Cisco M220 hardware, including HCI architecture deployment and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with VM monitoring platforms such as Aria Operations, SolarWinds, Zabbix, or Dynatrace
- Strong knowledge of P2V migrations, snapshots, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning
- Familiarity with DoD STIGs, infrastructure hardening, and compliance requirements
- Experience in large-scale datacenter operations and performance tuning of virtualization systems
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance (or Secret with ability to upgrade)
- Knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking, VLANs, vSwitches, and NSX
- Nice-to-have: VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Aria Suite expertise, Nutanix/Red Hat Virtualization, PowerShell/PowerCLI/Ansible scripting, and hybrid cloud knowledge (VMware Cloud on AWS/Azure)
