About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to support enterprise infrastructure operations within a complex and fast-paced IT environment. This role will be responsible for administering Linux and Windows systems, implementing automation and patch management strategies, supporting virtualization technologies, maintaining system security, and ensuring the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong Linux administration expertise, experience with Ansible automation, and a solid background in enterprise systems administration.
Key Responsibilities
Linux Systems Administration
- Administer Linux systems across multiple versions, platforms, and configurations.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux operating systems and related infrastructure.
- Implement and manage Linux patching strategies utilizing Ansible automation.
- Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and availability.
- Perform operating system upgrades, enhancements, and reliability improvements.
- Ensure system configurations align with organizational standards and best practices.
Infrastructure & Systems Support
- Provide enterprise-wide administration and support for:
- Linux Systems
- Windows Server Environments
- VMware Infrastructure
- Active Directory
- Physical and Virtual Server Platforms
- Support installation, maintenance, and configuration of enterprise software and infrastructure services.
- Resolve complex technical issues and provide Tier 2/Tier 3 support when necessary.
- Collaborate with internal IT teams to maintain stable and secure systems environments.
Security & Compliance
- Conduct routine security scans and vulnerability assessments.
- Install and validate security patches across Linux and Windows environments.
- Support compliance initiatives through system hardening and security best practices.
- Assist with incident response and remediation efforts as needed.
- Maintain system integrity, availability, and confidentiality standards.
System Maintenance & Monitoring
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly system maintenance activities.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and proactively identify issues.
- Analyze system logs and performance metrics to optimize reliability.
- Ensure operational procedures and maintenance schedules are followed consistently.
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
Incident Management & Operational Support
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and serve as an escalation point for critical incidents.
- Provide after-hours support for production and development environments when required.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, operating system, and application-related issues.
- Document incidents, resolutions, procedures, and technical configurations.
Planning & Continuous Improvement
- Support long-term infrastructure planning and systems administration initiatives.
- Recommend and implement improvements to system reliability, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams on technology upgrades and modernization efforts.
- Contribute to documentation, standards development, and process improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience administering enterprise Linux environments.
- Strong experience with Linux operating systems including RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or similar distributions.
- Hands-on experience implementing automation and patch management using Ansible.
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
- Experience managing VMware virtualized infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with enterprise security practices, vulnerability remediation, and patch management.
- Ability to support critical production environments and participate in on-call rotations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools.
- Familiarity with storage, networking, and backup technologies.
- Experience supporting highly available and mission-critical systems.
- Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, Linux , VMware, or Microsoft certifications preferred.
