What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operating Engineer position at JLL?
We are currently seeking an Operating Engineer to provide maintenance and repair services in government facilities environment. This position will service the base building systems, including HVAC mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment, and related components. Must have the ability to lead other service technicians, design solutions for difficult problems, manage outside contractors, be on call for emergencies, handle multiple projects and daily activities, and meet time lines.

- Safely operate and maintain facility systems in accordance with government and regulatory requirements
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
- Monitor equipment performance, record readings, and make adjustments to ensure optimal operation
- Respond to customer service requests and emergency situations in a timely, professional manner
- Conduct safety inspections, identify hazards, and enforce safety protocols throughout the facility
- Coordinate with outside contractors and monitor work quality and pricing
- Maintain accurate records and assist with incident investigations as needed
- Ability to participate in an on call rotation for after hours, weekends and holidays
- Universal Technician Certification for CFCs (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Experience with computer-controlled building automation systems
- Knowledge of thermodynamic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Trade school education in HVAC, electrical, or related field
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical trade OR HVAC/refrigeration trade, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid U.S. driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work with proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Physical ability to perform frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and overhead work
