This role requires conducting installation, repair, and maintenance of critical and non-critical electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems while monitoring building operations and ensuring optimal performance. The position demands strong technical expertise, formal conduct of operations skills, and flawless execution in high-risk environments with exceptional customer service expectations.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical equipment including HVAC, chillers, UPS systems, generators, fire suppression systems, and building management systems
- Operate and monitor critical and non-critical system equipment while overseeing third-party contractor work for safe and compliant operations
- Install and repair plumbing, piping, electrical controls, motors, pumps, air compressors, and heat exchangers
- Execute work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance, consulting with supervisors and completing documentation in computerized maintenance management systems
- Respond immediately to emergency situations such as fire, evacuation, equipment failure, and customer concerns
- Perform Building Management System Console operations and monitor system performance
- Comply with departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and safe workplace
- Participate in professional trade organizations and training programs to stay current with industry technological trends
- Perform additional duties as required to meet client objectives and support facility operations
- 4 years of experience in critical environment operations, maintenance, and/or engineering supporting critical facilities
- Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical and HVAC trades, including rooftop units
- Minimum 4 years of experience with backup systems (generators and UPS)
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems in commercial/critical facilities
- Fundamental skills in critical systems including emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, uninterruptible power systems, power distribution units, and battery systems
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- All Local 94 necessary certifications/licenses (Union Position)
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and software including MS Office, Teams, and email
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written reports
- Experience in research facility environments
- Additional trade certifications beyond minimum requirements
- Background in building automation systems and digital control systems
