What this job involves – We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team in Princeton NJ! The EH&S Specialist will develop, document and implement programs to deliver Environmental, Health and Safety. The programs must assure systematic plans for daily management and improvement with effective reporting and progress review methods. This position will provide guidance and support to site management, program owners and site personnel across multiple facilities to ensure compliance with EH&S requirements through the design, organization, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures and programs. The EH&S Specialist must understand state and local requirements along with the Critical Performance Indicators and Key Performance Indicators related to customer expectations in this area. The objective is to deliver Facility Management at each site in a manner that protects all personnel and property while avoiding loss, building public trust and providing business continuity.

What is your day to day?
- Develop and implement comprehensive EH&S programs and initiatives that comply with regulatory requirements and promote employee participation and accountability. Examples include contractor safety, isolation of hazardous energy, chemical management, emergency procedures and safety committee teams.
- Provide guidance and advice on EH&S management at all levels on the account.
- Ensure programs comply with regulatory, client and company requirements.
- Support and manage JLL and the clients EHS programs; examples include, fire suppression preventative maintenance inspections, industrial hygiene sampling, respirator fit testing, environmental inspections (hazardous wastes, spill prevention, etc.).
- Participate and/or lead a monthly safety meeting with facility team members.
- Participate and/or lead site safety committee program.
- Promote and develop a positive Environmental, Health and Safety culture at all levels throughout the account.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly metrics.
- Conduct and review risk assessments related to jobs performed (ex: JHA's -Job Hazard Analyses)
- Support site during audits from client, corporate, EH&S staff, as well as outside agencies and insurance representatives.
- Ensure programs are in place and manage third party suppliers/vendors using 3rd party contractor management system (ISNetworld). Leverage contractor safety leads to assist.
- Ensure work orders in CMMS (Maximo) system are reviewed/completed on time.
- Ensure safety equipment is calibrated on an annual PM.
- Conduct facility Field Observations with maintenance team to ensure compliance with policies and programs.
- Provide direct support to JLL employees on industry EH&S compliance as well as site specific client compliance or site-specific operating requirements.
- Manage all aspects of EH&S training from reporting, tacking, developing to the account.
- Provide safety training (train the trainer) to ensure that facility teams receive required training, including but not limited to: Confined Space Awareness training, Powered Industrial Truck, Fall Protection Awareness training, Lockout Tagout Training.
- Support behavioral based safety training program (SafeStart)
- Oversee the tracking and monitoring of EH&S performance metrics and assist with managing all EH&S reporting.
- Ensure incidents/accidents/near misses are enter in reporting systems on time.
- Ensure KPIs are maintained, OSHA logs are accurate, and all incidents and injuries are escalated on time.
- Support and assist sites with root cause investigations and near miss presentations.
- Conduct Health and Safety System inspections and audit workplace standards and activities.
- Emergency response responsibilities
- Industrial hygiene-related tasks such as fit testing, IAQ investigations, noise surveys, some PPE management

Desired experience and technical skills
- A minimum of two years of experience working with EHS compliance and management systems preferably within facility operations.
- Has knowledge or is willing to learn regulatory requirements that apply to facilities management (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, ASME, etc.).
- Knowledge of safety requirements, fundamentals of safety education, industrial safety, risk management, and the application of data automation to the safety function highly desired.
- A working knowledge of basic Industrial hygiene techniques and principles.
- Good work ethic and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well with others at all levels and across organizations.
- Must be able to get results through others without having direct reports.
- Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office programs, Outlook, etc.
- For internal candidates, must consistently receive a “meets expectations” job performance review.
- College degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- EHS experience in biopharmaceutical, research or maintenance operations is highly desirable.
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
