A day in this role
You begin by reviewing blueprints and work instructions, staging components with an overhead crane, and dialing in machine parameters. Throughout the shift, you run high-quality welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions, verify specs with measuring tools, and clean your work using grinders, wire wheels, and needle guns. You’ll pivot between product lines as needed, support teammates, and keep a sharp eye on 6S and safety protocols.
What you'll handle
- Pass and maintain certification through the Welder Qualification Test.
- Safely move and position parts using overhead cranes.
- Set and adjust welding equipment for proper configurations.
- Grind, wire-wheel, and needle-gun to finish welds to spec.
- Heat, form, and weld metal parts across multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
- Use gauges and measuring tools to hold tolerances and meet specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints; follow verbal and written instructions.
- Assemble, fit, position, and secure components prior to welding.
- Cross-train and support different production areas as business needs shift.
- Apply exceptional attention to detail to achieve quality standards.
- Uphold safety, cleanliness, and 6S procedures at all times.
- Partner effectively with the team and work independently as required.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Minimum qualifications
- Able to wear a standard welding helmet for extended periods.
- Willing and able to work overtime as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet production demands.
- Consistent in-person, on-site attendance.
Preferred
- Welding certification from an accredited institution.
- 1 year of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
Working environment
- Manufacturing setting with potential exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery, and temperature changes.
- Physical activities include standing for long periods; repetitive motions; lifting/carrying up to 35 lbs; pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs and up to 30 lbs sustained; bending; kneeling; climbing; and tool/equipment use.
- PPE is required when applicable.
- Visual and auditory acuity needed for safe operation and clear communication.
