Overview: As an Infant Teacher, you will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for infants in our care. You will play a crucial role in their early development and ensure their well-being while fostering a positive and engaging atmosphere.
$1,800 Sign-On Bonus! JCC teachers can earn a one-time new hire bonus of $800 at 90 days, and an additional $1,000 after six months in the role.
General Responsibilities:
- Provide attentive and high-quality care for infants aged 6 weeks to 18 months.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment conducive to infant development.
- Create a nurturing and supportive atmosphere that encourages infants to explore and learn.
- Effectively communicate with parents regarding their child’s daily activities, development, and any concerns.
- Collaborate with parents and colleagues to create a partnership that supports each infant’s individual needs.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols, including proper hygiene, diapering, and feeding procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to date records of each infant’s daily activities, milestones, and any notable events.
- Positively and actively, promote the JCC’s mission. Membership, programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the public.
- Provide excellent customer service to JCC members, staff, and guests by adhering to the JCC Consumer Code of Conduct.
- Other duties as needed or assigned.

- Recognize and respond to the individual needs and preferences of each infant in your care.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy regarding sensitive information.
- Communicate effectively with fellow staff and parents
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or unexpected situations
- Foster a sense of community and inclusivity
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school degree, plus 30 credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Resources, or an equivalent field; or
- High school diploma plus 15 credits in the above fields and one year of experience working with children; or
- Two years’ experience working with young children.
- CDA is required or working towards one within a year of hire.
- Previous experience working with infants in a childcare setting.
- Knowledge of infant development and age-appropriate activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability work collaboratively with a team.
- Ability to lift and carry infants and necessary equipment
- Stamina and energy to engage actively with infants throughout the day.
- At least 18 years old
- Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds.
- Must be able to participate in children’s active indoor and outdoor play
