What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audiology Technician position at Jefferson - Northeast Philadelphia, PA?
- Perform basic hearing tests: otoscopic examinations, tuning fork tests, pure tone air and bone conduction tests with and without masking, speech recognition threshold and word recognition test with and without masking
- Perform tympanometry tests which are billable and generate revenue for the department
- Perform basic hearing aid checks to confirm hearing aids are functioning
- Assist the audiology staff in providing audiology services in sites
- Track all hearing aid prospects
- Enter all data information into Sycle
- Track all hearing aid sales
- Run reports to analyze hearing aid progress
- - perform sterilization of ear tips and equipment as necessary
- - perform and record daily audiometer calibration
- Schedule patients for audiological services and hearing aid follow-up visits
- Supports the hearing aid dispensing process including orders and repairs
- recall patients for hearing aid checks or consultations
- Check audio booth supplies and replenish as needed; tips for Capella, Otoflex and otoscopes
- Check and charge otoscopes weekly; Clean tips and re-stock booths daily
- Empty and clean VNG tanks weekly
- Order and stock water supply in ENG/VNG room
- Report any Hearing Center equipment problems to the Director of Audiology
- Order, process and track all new inventory and repairs (cochlear implants and repairs, hearing aids, ear molds, parts and accessories); includes shipping and receiving
- Inform Audiologist of any missing items needed for each appointment
- Contact patients to inform them when repaired hearing aids are ready for pick-up
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University
- work with YHN to schedule patients being contacted by National Call Center
- attend audiology and manufacturer hearing aid trainings to keep informed on newest technology, etc.
- perform chart scrubbing to ensure patients are correctly scheduled
- assist with check-in/out in emergency situations where there is insufficient staff
- confirmation calls (applicable at satellite offices or as requested by director of audiology)
- Assist with fairs, promotional events, etc.
High School Degree or GED required
CPOP CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
