What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Services Technician position at Jefferson County Health Center?
POSITION OVERVIEW: (non-exempt)
Clean all areas of the health center.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate preferred but not required
- Must be able to read, write, follow written instructions, and be able to comprehend verbal instructions given in English
- Experience in cleaning preferred but not necessary
- Must have a record of dependability.
- On-the-job orientation is given
- Must be able to change routine/schedule as necessary due to patient & department needs.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reports to the Environmental Services Manager, designated shift lead, or House Supervisor
DIRECT REPORTS:
None
POSITION-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Accountable for all locked areas after departments close down for the day
- Responsible for keys and for making sure that locked areas are, in fact, locked.
- Does not unlock areas for ANYONE. If there is a need for a locked area to be unlocked for someone, it is a decision of the House Supervisor, not the tech.
- Clean x-ray and laboratory.
- Damp dust all furniture and fixtures.
- Empty all trash receptacles and replace all liners.
- Mop all floors with detergent germicide solution.
- Clean all lavatories and stools and spot wash walls in each area.
- Clean gift shop, mail room, and Admissions area.
- Clean Ambulatory Care area, including scope area and ER doctor room.
- Clean PT, Speech, Cardiac Rehab, and OT areas.
- Clean Conference rooms and the board room.
- Set up for meetings and tear down afterward according to directions.
- Do patient discharges and OR if required.
- Responsible for keys used only for purposes of entering areas to be worked.
- Assist in monthly deep-cleaning of OR and Ambulatory Care.
- Gather ER trash nightly.
- Gather all laundry from rehabilitation services and bring it to the back loading dock.
- Gather all red trash in the above-mentioned areas and dispose of it in the biohazard room.
- Gather recycling and shred from the mailroom area and bring it to back loading dock.
- Clean all public restrooms (Admissions, ER, MS, Business Office, IT hallway, and Conference room area) nightly.
- As assigned assist in the cleaning of the Professional Clinic, Specialty Clinics, Cafeteria/vending area, vacuuming all main carpeted hallways, and gathering trash in the administrative wing, Health Information, and Information Technology offices.
- Assist in the laundering of rags and mops.
- Cleaning of dialysis – removal of linen, red, recycle, trash
- Clean all handrails in areas cleaned nightly.
- Must observe rules of confidentiality and HIPPA concerning patient rights.
- Computer knowledge if required.
- Attends all required meetings and in-services. Regular and punctual attendance
- Performs other related duties as requested/required; which may include assisting with laundry.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works in a well-illuminated, climate-controlled environment
- May come in contact with hazardous chemical or treatment modalities
- Possibility exists of exposure to communicable diseases
- Involvement in inpatient care may result in unavoidable work-related illness or injury
- Work environment is comfortable, with minimal exposure to physical hazards
- Moderate to loud noise environment when machines/equipment in use
- Involvement in checking in/moving of supplies may result in unavoidable work-related injury
- Must be constantly alert for patient/family emergency situations
