PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT


The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

RESPONSIBILITIES


SUMMARY Lead districtwide efforts to support healing and resilience following the tragic events at Evergreen High School. Coordinate trauma-informed recovery strategies; collaborate with schools and community partners; and ensure students, staff, and families have access to effective behavioral health supports. Provide support, consultation, and guidance to administrators and educators; oversee recovery planning and communication; and promote staff wellness and long-term systemwide recovery through evidence-based, compassionate practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate crisis and recovery response for the school district related to the tragic events at Evergreen High School.

Coordinate and implement Jeffco policies, procedures, protocols, and practices that prioritize trauma-informed care to create a safe, supportive, and predictable school environment to promote student and staff well-being.

Provide consultation and guidance in service to and in support of the schools' administrators to help them prioritize school operations while ensuring trauma recovery supports are fully integrated.

Lead the development and implementation of a long-term recovery plan, including benchmarks for student and staff well-being, community engagement, and systemwide healing.

Coordinate communication systems to ensure consistent, transparent, and sensitive messaging to students, families, staff, and the community about recovery activities and available supports.

Coordinate directly with the Community Resilience Center and other local organizations to integrate school recovery efforts with community-wide stabilization and support services.

Facilitate regular stakeholder meetings to monitor progress, identify needs, and align recovery supports across Evergreen High School, Wilmot Elementary, and the mountain community of Evergreen and Conifer.

Monitor emerging needs (academic, behavioral, social-emotional) in both Evergreen High and Wilmot Elementary, ensuring that responsive supports are adjusted accordingly.

Support staff wellness initiatives, including peer-support systems, secondary trauma prevention, and staff-care strategies, so educators can continue to sustain their work effectively.

Provide and host ongoing training, education, and professional development for teachers, counselors, and other staff on recognizing, responding to, and supporting students affected by a mass violence tragedy.

Collaborate with school administration and counselors, mental/behavioral health professionals, other support staff, and community partners to ensure staff, students and their families receive the necessary support and resources to address symptoms related to the mass violence incident.

Serve as an advocate or liaison with schools, staff, families, and community agencies to create a unified and collaborative response to the mass violence incident.

Ensure that behavioral health supports for students, families, and staff are high quality, evidence-based and readily available to promote recovery and resiliency.

Provide outreach to parents/families by communicating about available resources for youth, adolescents, and adults; and update regarding recovery.

Collect and analyze data related to student trauma and the effectiveness of support services to inform program improvement and resource allocation.

Manage resources, maintain budgets and monitor expenditures related to recovery efforts.

Participate in relevant training programs to enhance individual skills and proficiency related to the job responsibilities.

Collaborate and plan for annual observances and memorials and provide support to teachers, staff, students, and families as needed.

Collaborate with the National Mass Violence Center to coordinate response and recovery efforts.

EXPERIENCE At minimum of 5 years of successful experience as a mental health provider, preferably in a school setting.

EDUCATION & TRAINING Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Preferred field of study of psychology, social work, or counseling.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Colorado Department of Education Special Services Provider license as School Counselor, Social Worker or School Psychologist required or DORA license as Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Psychologist with willingness to get CDE authorization also accepted.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of the principles and practices of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and the impact of trauma, grief, and loss on children, adolescents, and adults. Knowledge of school-based mental and behavioral health systems; including multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and evidence-based approaches to staff wellness, resilience-building, and secondary trauma prevention. Knowledge of policies, procedures, and legal considerations related to student well-being, privacy (FERPA, HIPAA), and school safety. Skilled in coordinating complex, multi-agency recovery initiatives that require collaboration across schools and community systems. Skilled in developing and sustaining long-term recovery plans that promote healing and resilience at the individual, school, and community levels. Skilled in using technology, data dashboards, and digital communication tools to support information sharing and progress monitoring. Able to maintain professionalism, composure, and confidentiality in emotionally charged or high-pressure situations. Able to build trust and foster collaborative relationships among diverse stakeholders. Able to demonstrate cultural responsiveness and sensitivity when working with individuals and groups affected by trauma.

SPAN OF CONTROL Functions as an individual contributor. Does not directly supervise staff but provides functional support, guidance, consultation, and leadership to school administrators, counselors, mental health professionals, and other staff involved in trauma recovery efforts. The position coordinates cross-departmental and interagency activities to ensure alignment of recovery supports and services.

Flexibility to adapt to varying schedules, unexpected crises, and changes in school policies or procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is primarily performed at Evergreen High School and Wilmot Elementary Schools. Typical elementary school building may also contain libraries, computer labs, and kitchens. Typical secondary school campus may also contain libraries, science labs, computer labs, kitchens, auditoriums, gymnasiums & athletic fields, and possibly specialized shops. May be exposed to outside elements during travel between campuses and offices.
