GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Medical Assistant III provides advanced clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers and patients. This position is responsible for the delivery of integrative patient care which promotes the safety and well-being of all patients. This role involves a combination of patient care, administrative duties, and the management of complex tasks in the medical office or clinical setting.

ESSENTAIL FUNCTIONS:
Clinical Support:
- Answer phones and greet patients in a professional manner.
- Draw and collect blood samples from patients.
- Assist in the preparation and examination of patients, including taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight).
- Administer medications or injections as prescribed by the physician.
- Prepare patients for the healthcare provider.
- Prepare and manage medical equipment and instruments.
- Prepare and maintain patient records, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date.
- Sterilize and disinfect medical instruments and equipment.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients; keep patients’ exam rooms stocked and orderly.
- Assist in minor procedures and maintain sterile techniques.
- Cross train with administrative patient support staff.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments, manage patient flow, and coordinate with other healthcare providers.
- Handle medical billing and coding tasks, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
- Provide patient education regarding treatment plans, procedures, and medications.
Patient Communication:
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointments, test results, and follow-up care.
- Address patient inquiries, providing information on health services and assisting with any concerns.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Maintain and ensure compliance with health regulations, safety protocols, and the standards of the healthcare facility.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Perform JCAHO and OSHA related duties as assigned
- Other duties as assigned by the Clinic Site Manager
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- AA or BS Degree.
- Requires 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited MA Program with phlebotomy being a part of the program (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong knowledge of clinical procedures, medical terminology, and patient care practices.
- Proficiency in medical software, office equipment, and electronic health records (EHR).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
