Gynecologist

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  The Gynecologist specializes in diagnosing, treating, and managing conditions related to the female reproductive system. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, from preventive care to complex surgical interventions, aimed at promoting women's health across various life stages. The Gynecologist will provide comprehensive gynecological care while ensuring strict adherence to documentation procedures, maintaining accurate and timely medical records in compliance with legal and organizational standards.

CLINICAL CARE & DOCUMENTATION

• Conduct routine gynecological examinations, including pelvic exams, Pap smears, and breast exams.
• Diagnose and treat various gynecological conditions such as endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), uterine fibroids, and sexually transmitted infections.
• Provide prenatal and postnatal care, including monitoring fetal development and managing complications.
• Offer counseling on reproductive health, contraception, and family planning options.
• Manage menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms, providing hormone replacement therapy when appropriate. 
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR), including patient histories, examination findings, diagnostic results, treatment plans, and follow-up care, in accordance with legal and organizational requirements.

PATIENT EDUCATION & ADVOCACY:

• Educate patients about reproductive health, disease prevention, and wellness practices.
• Advocate patient-centered care, ensuring informed decision-making and respect for patient preferences.
• Offer counseling on reproductive health, contraception, and family planning options.
• Provide support and resources for patients dealing with infertility, sexual health concerns, and chronic gynecological conditions.

COLLOBRATION & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.
• Participate in continuing medical education (CME) to stay current with advancements in gynecology.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and clinical efficiency.
• Collaborate with the billing departments to ensure accurate coding and billing practices, adhering to insurance and regulatory guidelines.

COMPLIANCE ADHERENCE: 

• Ensure all clinical practices comply with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, DEA, JOINT COMISSION, AND HRSA standards.
• Engage in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• 3-5 years of experience in a clinical setting.
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited residency program in obstetrics and gynecology.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong clinical skills with proficiency in gynecological procedures and surgeries.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
• Commitment to ethical medical practices and patient confidentiality
• In-depth understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, DEA, JOINT COMMISION AND HRSA STANDARDS.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATION: Board certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). Valid state medical license to practice gynecology. Peer References required and must agree to Credentialing and Privileging Requirements.
