What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Architect position at Jason Thomas Architect?
Our architecture firm is seeking a Junior to Intermediate Architect / Architectural Designer or Engineer with 2–3 years of experience working on high-end residential projects. The ideal candidate has proven experience preparing detailed and coordinated construction documents for modern and traditional custom homes.
AutoCAD proficiency is required.
The successful candidate will be proactive, self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented. Strong technical, written, and design skills are essential. The position requires someone comfortable working in a collaborative team environment while managing responsibilities across multiple projects simultaneously.
Following an initial trial period, compensation and responsibilities will be based on experience, performance, and the ability to design and execute projects consistent with the office’s design standards and vision.
Essential Duties
- Prepare construction drawings and coordinated construction document sets (partial or full sets depending on experience)
- Review sketches, drawings, and specifications and assist in developing them into working documents
- Assist with construction administration, including site visits, meeting with contractors and subcontractors, and documenting construction progress with photographs
- Respond to RFIs, site questions, and field conditions as needed
- Assist with project drafting and coordination of construction documents
- Depending on experience, contribute to design development
Qualifications
- 2–3 years professional experience in architecture or related field
- Experience with high-end residential construction documents
- AutoCAD required
- Strong understanding of construction detailing and building systems
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
- Degree in Architecture
