Experienced Barista — Jane Street Café
Jane Street Café is looking for an experienced barista with an upbeat personality, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. We want someone who makes guests feel welcome, enjoys working with a team, and can work quickly and efficiently while maintaining quality and accuracy.
You’ll prepare coffee and specialty drinks, serve food, and help keep the café clean, organized, and running smoothly. Our ideal candidate stays friendly and focused during busy periods, takes initiative, and brings good energy to every shift.
Previous customer service and barista experience are required. Applicants must have worked in a coffee shop and have hands-on experience operating a commercial espresso machine.
Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso, coffee, tea, smoothies, and specialty beverages consistently and accurately.
- Operate a commercial espresso machine and grinder, including pulling espresso shots, steaming milk, and cleaning equipment.
- Greet guests warmly, take orders accurately, and provide friendly, attentive service.
- Learn our menu, explain ingredients, and recommend drinks and food items based on customer preferences.
- Use Square POS to enter orders and process payments efficiently and accurately.
- Handle cash responsibly, maintain an accurate cash drawer, and promptly report discrepancies.
- Serve food and drinks promptly while coordinating with other team members.
- Keep beverage stations, food preparation areas, counters, and seating areas clean and organized.
- Restock ingredients and supplies throughout the shift and anticipate what is needed during busy periods.
- Follow food safety procedures and complete assigned opening and closing tasks.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Previous barista experience in a coffee shop.
- Hands-on experience operating a commercial espresso machine and steaming milk.
- Previous customer service experience.
- An upbeat, welcoming personality and a consistently positive attitude.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently, manage multiple orders, and maintain attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to support teammates.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a proactive approach to work.
- Familiarity with POS systems; Square POS experience is preferred.
- Accurate cash handling skills and knowledge of proper food handling and cleanliness practices.

Pay: $11.80 - $15.00 per hour
