General Information
The Senior Educational Technology Engineer position will design, manage, and integrate educational and presentation technologies for the JMU campus.
These services include managing educational technology and presentation equipment projects, collaboration with customers, contactors, and construction personnel, as well as facilitation of audio-visual technology installations through system design, equipment procurement, and meeting client needs.

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position with benefits. Normal work shifts for this position will align with regular university business hours.
Duties And Responsibilities
Design, install, configure and commission audio-visual, computer, and multi-media technology systems creating custom audio/visual systems that provide up-to-date teaching and learning spaces to meet JMU’s instructional, research, and student experience needs. Communication with JMU facilities engineering and building contractors to ensure that classroom and multi-media technology needs in capital building/renovation projects are accounted for. Create and maintain technical documentation on classroom design.
Qualifications
Required:
- Exceptional knowledge of the technical installation of digital audio-visual systems.
- Exceptional knowledge in the design, configuration, and support of media systems and educational technology equipment to include digital, computer-based audio and video systems, with inputs and outputs from/to various sources.
- Demonstrated ability to understand customers' needs effectively and communicate options for problem resolution to customers.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex audio, video, and control system problems.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with contractors, vendors and University community.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects.
- Intermediate level media control software programming skills (Crestron and Extron).
- Ability to analyze technical problems and to understand the teaching needs of different instructional and personal styles of faculty clients.
