Construction Inspector
James J. Hahn Engineering, P.C. is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join our civil and environmental engineering team.
This full-time position involves field inspection and documentation for municipal infrastructure projects throughout Westchester and Putnam Counties, NY, including roadway, sidewalk, drainage, and stormwater improvements.
Responsibilities
- Inspect roadway resurfacing, reconstruction, sidewalks, curbs, drainage, and stormwater improvements
- Observe construction for conformance with project plans and specifications
- Monitor contractor progress and document daily field activity
- Prepare daily inspection reports and site documentation
- Photograph site conditions and construction progress
- Measure and track construction quantities
- Review contractor work against plans and specifications
- Identify field conditions or issues requiring review by the project engineer
- Communicate directly with contractors in the field
- Review or verify contractor pay quantities
- Support additional municipal infrastructure projects as needed
Qualifications
- Familiarity with municipal or public infrastructure construction preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain accurate field documentation
- Ability to work independently at active construction sites
- Ability to travel between project locations
- Valid driver’s license
- Local candidates preferred
Position Details
