Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Deductions Analyst to play a key role in the Accounting Department and will be primarily focused on analyzing, resolving, and reducing customer deductions, chargebacks, and penalties-particularly from our large retail accounts. This position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to dig into why specific deductions are being issued, especially those related to shipping discrepancies, compliance violations, or process breakdowns. The analyst will work closely with the Distribution Center and cross-functional teams to understand root causes and implement solutions. While some cash application and AR support is included, it represents a smaller portion of the role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Deduction Analysis & Resolution
- Review and validate customer deductions related to compliance, shipping, and pricing
- Investigate recurring penalties from large accounts and identify root causes
- Dispute and resolve deductions via customer portals and documentation
- Coordinate with Sales, Customer Support, and Operations on claim resolution
- Maintain organized records and prepare deduction-related entries for accounting
Logistics Collaboration & DC Partnership
- Partner with the Distribution Center to resolve frequent shipment errors contributing to chargebacks
- Analyze deduction trends involving short shipments, routing violations, and delivery issues
- Recommend and help implement operational changes to prevent recurring penalties
- Track LTL claims and support resolution of freight-related issues
Audit, Controls & Process Development
- Conduct regular audits of high-volume accounts to detect patterns and assess financial impact
- Develop and improve standard operating procedures for deduction handling and tracking
- Collaborate on deduction-related process improvements and control documentation
Reporting & Insights
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reporting on deduction categories, resolution time, and financial exposure
- Present key findings to Accounting leadership and contribute to root cause elimination initiatives
- Assist with documentation during audit and month-end close related to deductions
Limited AR & Cash Application Support
- Assist with applying payments against open balances when needed
- Help research unapplied cash related to deduction disputes
- Coordinate with AR team to ensure clean customer account aging
Cross-Functional Engagement
- Serve as Accounting's representative in deduction-related discussions with Sales, Customer Support, and Operations
- Participate in customer calls to address open deductions and support financial discussions
Skills & Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3 years of experience in deductions, chargebacks, or compliance resolution roles
- Strong analytical and investigative mindset
- Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, etc.)
- Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a dynamic environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with large retailers or distribution partners
- Familiarity with customer compliance and routing guides
- Experience with deduction portals (e.g., Amazon, Wayfair, Macy's)

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
