Description
Hi - it's Jake Levy. My growth aspirations for this company are enormous. With our current product, Jacob will be the leader in the all natural, BFY protein bar segment. But the opportunity we have is far larger... we have the opportunity to redefine the grocery store... to pave the way with clean, nutritious ingredients... and do so with a brand that resonates.
I am looking for a right hand. You will be the connective tissue between strategy, vision, and execution. You’ll help build the internal operating system that powers Jacob’s next stage of growth.
I recommend the book "Rocket Fuel" by Gino Wickman to understand the frame under which I am approaching this role and our relationship.
I am not hiring an executive assistant. I am looking for someone who is adept at quickly identifying and articulating problems, bottlenecks, disconnects, roadblocks, and barriers. You are great at taking ideas (of which I have many) and effectively initializing plans to make them a reality. You enjoy the back-end... you love running the day-to-day and take great pride in "keeping the trains running on time."
While your actual responsibilities will be vast, and rapidly evolving as our business does, here is a high-level outline of your responsibilities:
- Run our internal operating systems: project management, communication architecture, metrics/OKR dashboard, reporting, meetings and check-ins.
- Organizational alignment: Ensure clarity across departments by translating high-level goals into structured project plans, owners, and deadlines.
- Company-wide processing: Effectively integrating all the major functions of the organization. Ensure communication is smoothly flowing across the organization.
- CEO Enablement (high-leverage, not assistant): Act as a true thought partner to the CEO, debating strategy, pressure-testing decisions, and clarifying priorities. Manage CEO bandwidth by protecting time, sharpening focus, and reducing noise.
- Own special projects that don’t fit neatly into one function, but are critical to company growth.
- Design and implement repeatable processes and systems that enable speed at scale.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of digital business mechanics: fluent in how DTC brands work across growth, operations, and finance.
- Articulate project and systems builder: you can build internal processes, OKR tracking systems, weekly reporting cadences, and meeting architecture from scratch.
- Fluent with modern productivity tools like Airtable, Slack, Google Suite, Shopify, Front.
- Sharp analytical and communication skills: you can interpret a PL/BS/CF statement, and translate our financials goals into weekly, monthly, and quarterly objectives.
- Impeccable judgment and extreme ownership: you don’t need to be told what’s broken, and once something’s yours, you own it completely.
- Please write "34" in your cover letter.
- Executive-level communication and discretion: you can represent the founder in both internal and external settings.
Personal Attributes
- Set ambitious goals and consistently beat them.
- You have a habit of winning. You are competitive.
- Default to action. Get things done quickly.
- Energized by fast, unstructured environments with full freedom to build.
- Operate with accountability (you don’t wait to be told).
- Think in systems, highly organized (even in chaos), and detail-oriented.
- Obsess over clarity (of goals, data, and communication).
- Take action quickly, learn fast, and iterate without ego.
- Speak directly, receive feedback openly, and pursue truth over politics (no right or wrong, only what's best for the business).
- Love the grind of building something meaningful and category-defining.
- Care deeply about health, performance, and helping others feel better.
Benefits
- Full-time, in-office position (5 days per week) based in New York City.
- Cash compensation: $100,00 - 200,000.
- Company equity opportunity.
