Job Title: Junior Accountant – Accounts Payable & Close Support
Schedule: Full-Time
Location: Midtown, New York City – In-office, 5 days/week
Reports To: Accounts Payable Manager
Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000 per year
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Accountant to support Accounts Payable operations and month-end close activities across multiple U.S. entities. This role offers exposure to accruals, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and compliance in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, well versed in GAAP, and eager to grow within a structured accounting team.
Core Responsibilities
Invoice & Data Management
- Oversee AP inbox and ensure invoices and vendor inquiries are processed accurately and timely.
- Enter and review vendor invoices and credit memos in Microsoft Business Central in accordance with internal coding standards.
- Maintain and onboard vendors, ensuring W-9, tax, and banking documentation is complete and compliant.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen controls and data integrity.
Payments & Reconciliations
- Review AP aging reports, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate timely payment processing.
- Perform recurring AP account reconciliations and prepare structured supporting analysis.
- Record and reconcile corporate credit card and travel expense activity.
Month-End Close & Accrual Support
- Assist in preparing and posting month-end accruals, including royalty and expense accruals.
- Support reconciliation of intercompany due to/from balances across U.S. entities.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and general ledger review.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and support depreciation entries.
- Analyze aging reports, and pending approvals to ensure timely resolution.
Compliance & Audit Support
- Compile documentation for internal and external audits.
- Assist with quarterly VAT filing and supporting documentation
- Assist with quarterly NYC Commercial Rent Tax (CRT) calculations.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting, AP, or related finance function
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- ERP experience required (Microsoft Business Central preferred)
- Exposure to month-end close activities
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset
- Experience with AP automation tools is a plus
