Position Overview
The Winter Driving Academy Team Lead is a seasonal 1099 contractor role responsible for ensuring an exceptional guest experience through hands-on instruction, event facilitation, and on-site leadership. This contract position is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in snow and ice driving, tire technology, and course operations who thrive in dynamic, event-based environments. The Team Lead operates as an independent contractor, guiding the instructional team while contributing directly to vehicle preparation, course setup, guest engagement, and program execution.
Day rate: $500–$575, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Instruct and coach guests in safe, effective snow and ice driving techniques for a range of skill levels.
- Deliver classroom sessions on tire performance, winter driving best practices, and vehicle control.
- Lead and support a team of instructors, promoting a professional and engaging atmosphere.
- Oversee daily course setup, inspections, and maintenance to ensure safe and optimal driving conditions.
- Prepare event vehicles, including fueling, inspections, warming, and equipment checks.
- Participate in and supervise vehicle detailing and reset to maintain premium presentation standards.
- Serve as the on-site host, leading guest briefings, facilitating transitions, and ensuring smooth event flow.
- Coordinate day-of logistics, scheduling, reporting, and communication with program management.
- Act as the escalation point for on-site safety, guest concerns, and operational adjustments.
Qualifications
- Proven expertise in snow and ice driving with instructional or coaching experience.
- Solid understanding of tire technology and winter performance dynamics.
- Experience presenting technical content in classroom and on-track environments.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills suited for seasonal event operations.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities with attention to event flow and safety.
- Hands-on aptitude for vehicle care, detailing, and winter course maintenance.
- Ability to work outdoors in winter conditions and meet the physical requirements of the role.
- Outstanding communication, facilitation, and interpersonal engagement skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
