oin a fast-moving, project-based company as the Regional Accounting Manager to own the region's overall financial and accounting operations. It's a newly created seat: the company has grown from 1,000 people to 8,700 in under two years and just took its finance team regional. Reporting to the Regional Director of FP&A and partnering with the Divisional CFO, this role is built for a strategic yet hands-on leader who thrives in cross-functional environments and understands project-based accounting inside and out.
Rather than sitting behind a desk running routine closes from a distance, you'll actively partner with operational and project leaders to dissect WIP schedules, analyze job costs, and drive accountability across billing, payroll and cash applications. A great opportunity to lead a dedicated team while serving as a key financial advisor to the business.
What You'll Actually Do:
- Own regional accounting: oversee month-end close, billing, payroll, cash applications and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
- Drive project accounting and WIP: coordinate with Project Controls to direct job setup, cost coding, percentage-of-completion calculations and revenue recognition.
- Partner with operations: work directly with project managers and operational teams to resolve discrepancies in margins, costs and WIP, ensuring clear job-level visibility.
- Lead and develop people: coach and mentor a team of accounting professionals, setting high standards for accuracy, timeliness and process quality.
- Strengthen controls and strategy: maintain strong internal controls, partner with FP&A on financial alignment, and keep improving regional accounting processes.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- 6 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience in a project-based environment (construction industry preferred).
- Deep expertise in job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition.
- Direct people leadership over accounting functions.
- Direct experience partnering with field operations and project leadership to solve financial issues.
- Active CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- Fluency with accounting systems and technology, with a mindset for process improvement.
Where and How Much:
- Target Compensation: $115,000 to $130,000 base plus a 10% discretionary bonus
- Location: Cedar Rapids, IA. In office
