Position Summary
The System Administrator I is the first point of contact for employees experiencing technical issues. This role provides prompt, courteous, and effective support to resolve basic hardware, software, and network-related problems. The System Administrator I is responsible for logging, tracking, and escalating tickets as needed to ensure timely resolution and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests via phone, email, ticketing system, or in-person.
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for:
- Workstations, laptops, and mobile devices
- Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.)
- Network connectivity (Wi-Fi, VPN, printers)
- Standard business applications and software
- Peripheral devices (printers, scanners, phones, etc.)
- Accurately log all requests and resolutions into the IT ticketing system.
- Escalate more complex issues to Tier 2 or Tier 3 support when necessary.
- Follow documented procedures for account setup, password resets, and access permissions.
- Assist with new hire setups, including provisioning accounts, devices, and software.
- Maintain and update IT documentation, knowledge base articles, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide excellent customer service and clear communication with end-users.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in IT-related field preferred.
- 1 year of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or related technical role.
- Industry certifications a plus (CompTIA A , Microsoft Certified, ITIL Foundation).
Skills & Abilities
- Basic understanding of Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and common business applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer service orientation and ability to remain patient under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
