Labor and Employment Litigation Attorney

Experience: 3–5 years

Annual salary range: $225,000–$245,000

J&R Ross Agency, LLC is recruiting a Labor and Employment Litigation Associate Attorney for a law firm’s Los Angeles office.

This opportunity offers substantive responsibility for employment litigation, collaboration with senior attorneys, and the ability to manage day-to-day case work with moderate independence. The ideal candidate brings direct employer-side litigation experience and a strong foundation in California employment law.

What you’ll do

• Defend employers in single-plaintiff cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, and reasonable accommodation.
• Handle California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) matters and employment class actions.
• Draft and respond to pleadings and discovery requests.
• Draft and argue dispositive motions and discovery motions.
• Conduct and defend depositions, including plaintiff and corporate witness depositions.
• Research employment law issues and develop clear, persuasive legal arguments.
• Manage case deadlines and daily litigation responsibilities while working with senior attorneys on strategy.

Required qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and an active California attorney license in good standing.
• Three to five years of relevant labor and employment litigation experience.
• Direct experience defending employers in single-plaintiff employment disputes.
• Experience handling PAGA matters and employment class actions.
• Hands-on responsibility for pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and depositions.
• Strong academic record and excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with colleagues.

Preferred experience

Experience counseling employers on federal and California employment laws and regulations is valued but is not required.
