Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented labor and employment associate with a minimum of two years of broad-based employment counseling experience to join its 3rd to 6th year associate class in New York City, NY. This non-litigation role offers the opportunity to work within a small, dynamic, and growing team dedicated to providing exceptional legal services regarding employment matters, collaborating closely with practices across the firm.

Duties

• Provide labor and employment assistance in mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
• Offer expert advice and counseling to employers of all types regarding all aspects of the employment relationship.
• Draft offer letters, employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, separation agreements, and non-competes to ensure alignment with client objectives and legal requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of broad-based employment counseling experience.
• Demonstrated direct experience in employment law, with a specific focus on transactional work and client counseling.
• Strong analytical, drafting, and communications skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-office environment.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the bar in New York is preferred.

• Sophisticated understanding of the legal landscape, market practice, and conditions.
• Ability to address complex multi-jurisdictional employment and employee benefits matters.
• Experience optimizing plan design to account for tax and securities law considerations.
