What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at J&R Collision Centers?
J&R Collision Centers is a local, independently owned collision repair shop that has been a staple in the community for over 10 years. We are looking for a dedicated team member to welcome, support, and assist our loyal customer base. Now hiring a Front-end Estimator.
Individuals are responsible for providing excellent customer service, meticulously inspecting damaged vehicles, and creating detailed repair plans to minimize supplements and speed up cycle times. They research OEM procedures, confirm parts decisions, communicate with customers and bill payers, and document all required repairs to ensure vehicle safety and restoration to pre-accident condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Excellence: Acting as the first point of contact for new and existing customers, providing professional and supportive service.
- Detailed Inspection & Teardown: Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections and component teardowns to identify all hidden and visible damage.
- Damage Analysis & Documentation: Document all necessary repairs, including structural, mechanical, and cosmetic damage.
- OEM Procedures Research: Research and follow vehicle manufacturer repair procedures, structural guidelines, and ADAS calibration requirements.
- Estimate Generation: Utilize estimating software (CCC) to create accurate, line-by-line repair estimates.
- Part Ordering & Coordination: Identify and order/coordinate all necessary parts, clips, and fasteners.
- Other parts responsibilities may include assisting parts personnel with orders, receiving, inventory, mirror matching, etc.
- Communication & Quality Control: Work with customers, insurance partners, and internal team members to facilitate smooth workflows, and ensure the final repair meets shop quality standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency with estimating software (CCC ONE).
- Deep understanding of automotive construction and collision repair techniques.
- Strong knowledge of OEM repair procedures and safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers, insurance adjusters, and technicians.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reduce supplements.
Common Requirements
- Prior experience in collision repair or as an auto body estimator.
- Computer Literacy: Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- I-CAR training or similar certification is often preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on detail.
- Reliability: The ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Available schedule to work Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.
