Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Quality Control Inspector to join our team in a fast-paced aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AS9100 quality standards and be proficient in generating First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102. This role involves performing detailed in-process and final inspections, using precise measurement tools, and ensuring that both raw materials and finished goods meet customer specifications and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform in-process, final, and incoming inspections in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
- Create and maintain First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) following AS9102 guidelines
- Inspect and verify the conformity of raw materials, components, and finished products
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T
- Use a variety of precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other metrology equipment
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, internal procedures, and industry standards (AS9100/ISO 9001)
- Identify and document non-conformances and support root cause and corrective action processes
- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve quality issues
- Maintain accurate and thorough inspection records and documentation
- Assist in audit preparation and support both internal and external audits
Required Qualifications:
- 4 years of quality control or inspection experience in the aerospace and defense industry
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100 quality management system
- Proven experience creating FAIRs per AS9102
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools and inspection techniques
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles
- Experience working with both raw materials and finished goods
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to comply with ITAR regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CMM inspection or programming
- Familiarity with ERP or QMS systems
- Internal auditing experience
- Lean or Six Sigma training
