Shop Painter

J & D Construction, Inc., located in Montevideo, MN, is a Commercial Ag Design-Build General Contractor and has been in business since 1980. J & D builds and maintains Grain Handling Facilities for commercial and farm use, Fertilizer Plants, Grain and Seed Processing Plants, and Feed Mills. We specialize in machinery installation, structural erection and equipment assembly. We also have a manufacturing shop that builds components for use in our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Surface Preparation: This includes cleaning and priming surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion.
• Color Matching and Mixing: Painters must be able to match colors to specifications or mix paints to achieve desired shades and finishes.
• Application of Coatings: They apply paint and other finishes using various tools, including brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
• Material Handling: Painters are responsible for moving materials around the job site, including paint, tools, and equipment.
• Clean Up: This involves cleaning tools and equipment, removing old paint, and clearing debris from the work area.
• Safety Procedures: Painters must follow safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and working in accordance with safety regulations.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Physical Fitness: Painting can be physically demanding, requiring bending, stretching, and lifting.
• Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is essential for achieving a quality finish and ensuring proper surface preparation.
• Knowledge of Tools and Materials: Painters need to be familiar with various tools, including brushes, rollers, sprayers, and different types of paints and finishes.
• Color Theory: Understanding color principles is crucial for mixing and matching colors.
• Communication Skills: Effective communication is important for interacting and collaborating with other team members.
• Time Management and Project Planning: Painters need to be able to manage their time effectively and plan projects to ensure timely completion.
