Position Overview
Ivy Academy is seeking a dynamic, hands-on educator to serve as a MEPS (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Systems) OR a Residential/Commercial Construction Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students through project-based learning, industry-aligned instruction, & real-world construction applications while preparing students for careers, certifications, apprenticeships, & post-secondary opportunities in the skilled trades & construction industries.

Key Responsibilities
- Teach courses related to:
- Residential Construction
- Commercial Construction
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Systems (MEPS)
- Construction Safety and OSHA standards
- Blueprint reading and construction technology
- Tools, equipment, and jobsite practices
- Develop engaging, standards-based lessons using hands-on and project-based instruction
- Maintain a safe, organized, and industry-relevant lab/shop environment
- Integrate employability skills, teamwork, communication, and professionalism into instruction
- Support students in earning industry-recognized certifications when applicable
- Collaborate with local industry partners, workforce organizations, and post-secondary institutions
- Participate in CTSO/student leadership opportunities and career pathway events
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and instructional documentation
- Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and community partners
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will possess:
- Valid Tennessee teaching certification in Construction, Engineering, CTAE, or a related field OR eligibility for alternative certification pathways
- Industry experience in residential and/or commercial construction trades
- Knowledge of MEPS systems and construction processes
- Experience with construction safety practices and OSHA standards
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in an innovative educational environment
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or general contracting
- NCCER, OSHA, or related industry certifications
- Experience working with high school students or youth programs
- Familiarity with project-based learning and career-focused education
- Passion for workforce development and skilled trades education
