JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Corporate Accounting is responsible for the management of various general corporate accounting functions including but not limited to recording cash, third-party and inter-company billings, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, prepaid expenses, corporate allocations, Generator Interconnection Agreements (GIA), and Capital in Aid of Construction agreements (CIAC).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages various corporate accounting activities, including cash, accounts receivable, third-party and inter-company billings, inventory accounting, and prepaid expenses, assuring that all financial information is accurate and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the requirements of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Manages and oversees corporate allocations which include system allocations (Labor related, O&M and Warehouse, Inter-unit transfer charges), MASS/KN/CC, and Shared Asset Fixed Charges.
G&A Capitalization of expenses including managing the Capital Survey process.
Works with General Ledger (GL) group to maintain and upgrade various corporate accounting financial applications and any data conversions or validations, including interfaces with other accounting systems and data.
Manages corporate accounting activities to ensure the monthly close process is completed timely.
Utilizes software applications and develops procedures for efficient and effective transaction processing.
Ensures corporate accounting team members are trained in proper use of financial systems and processes.
Identifies and implements process improvements.
Manages corporate accounting activities around the annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors, by aiding auditors to complete audit and reviews.
Manages Sarbanes Oxley financial controls and monitors compliance of those controls for corporate accounting activities.
Support and provide necessary data to External Reporting for all monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements as needed.
Support and provide necessary data to respond to Regulatory requests for information as required.
Analyze and provide data to support budgeting and financial analysis.
Provide guidance on proper account coding to all areas of the company.
Provides direction to, evaluates, hires, and assists in the development of the staff.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in either Accounting or Finance or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible, professional level, broad based experience in Corporate Accounting.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience required in managing projects, processes, or people.
CPA preferred.
Expert knowledge of financial systems. People Soft experience preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Utility accounting experience, including understanding of FERC accounting requirements, preferred.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications.
Sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
