Accounting & Compliance Manager
Position Summary
The Accounting & Compliance Manager is a hands-on role responsible for managing the company's day-to-day accounting activities and ensuring compliance with all applicable financial, regulatory, and fleet requirements. In an established, growing propane marketing and energy logistics company, this position requires someone who is comfortable owning processes end-to-end, working closely with operations and administration and adapting as the business scales.
This role is ideal for a self-starter who enjoys both detailed work and broad responsibility in a growing, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting (Hands-On)
Perform and oversee daily accounting tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and general ledger entries
Complete monthly close, bank and account reconciliations, and basic financial reporting
Track and allocate costs related to fleet operations, propane supply, logistics, and customer accounts
Monitor cash flow, vendor payments, and customer collections
Prepare schedules and documentation for external accountants, tax filings, and year-end close
Maintain organized financial records and support internal controls
Compliance & Fleet Oversight
Own compliance tracking and documentation for propane marketing and energy logistics operations
Manage fleet compliance requirements including DOT, FMCSA, IFTA, IRP, vehicle registrations, inspections, and renewals
Maintain driver qualification files and vehicle records as applicable
Track permits, licenses, insurance certificates, and expiration dates
Prepare for regulatory reviews, inspections, and audits
Serve as the primary point of contact for compliance-related questions and documentation
Analyze insurance options and optimize overall cost and coverages.
Operational Support & Process Improvement
Work directly with operations and leadership to ensure accurate reporting and compliance awareness
Support pricing, margin, and cost analysis as needed
Identify inefficiencies and help improve accounting and compliance processes
Assist with system setup, documentation, and process scaling as the company grows
Provide general administrative and financial support typical of a small team environment
Work with existing and future financial partners to help finance current and future operations in the most cost effective and flexible way.

Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–6 years of hands-on accounting experience
Experience managing compliance documentation in a regulated industry
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Comfortable working independently with minimal oversight
Proficiency with accounting software and Excel
Preferred
Experience in propane, energy distribution, transportation, or logistics
Familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, IFTA, IRP, or hazmat-related compliance
Experience in a small business or growing company environment
Familiar with S-Corp Tax preparation
