What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Secretary position at Irwin First United Methodist Church?
Duties:
- Perform bookkeeping tasks, including but not limited to:
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Recording financial transactions in the general ledger
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconciling bank statements and credit card statements
- Preparing and processing payroll
- Generating financial reports as needed
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with tax preparation
- Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) to perform daily tasks
- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information
- Provide support during audits and assist in the preparation of audit schedules
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles and practices
- Proficiency in using accounting software, such as QuickBooks
- Technical accounting skills, including budgeting and balance sheet reconciliation
- Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
