**Iron County School District is seeking multiple Part Time School Safety and Security Support Paraprofessionals.**

**The Part Time School Safety and Security Support Paraprofessional is under the direction of the school principal, and District Safety and Security Supervisor, the School Safety and Security Support Staff under the state statute** **UCA 53-22-10****5...is** **to support the district and school level safety and security specialists with the school safety plan, work to prevent emergencies, and be a first responder in emergency situations at the school level.**
- - **Performs regular door and fencing checks**
- **Walks building and building perimeter regularly throughout the day **
- **Assist with visitor management**
- **Assists with building safety drills**
- **Assists with school level safety plan**
- **Assists with school check-in check-out procedures**
- **Assist with video surveillance **
- **Does not have authority to act in a law enforcement capacity**
- **Takes actions necessary to prevent or abate an active threat**
- **Temporarily detain an individual when the school guardian has reasonable cause to believe the individual has committed or is about to commit a forcible felony**
- **Hold or obtain a valid concealed carry permit issued under Title 53, Chapter 5, Part 7, Concealed Firearm Act.**
- **Satisfactorily complete initial training within six months after hire.**
- **Complete the required annual and biannual training sessions to retain designation as a School Guardian**
- **Undergo a mental health screening selected by the state security chief in collaboration with the Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health.**

- **Coordination with law enforcement in the event of an active threat**
- **Basic trauma first aid**
- **Use of force and de-escalation techniques**
- **Situational response evaluations**
- **Firearm safety and storage**
- **De-escalation tactics**
- **The role of mental health in incidents**
- **Disability awareness and interactions**
- **Training on the specifics of the school building(s)**
- **Live-action practice plan with school administrators **
- **Adheres to all local, state, and federal policies and procedures for special education and behavior compliance.**
- **Handle confidential information appropriately**
- **File a report if, during the performance of the [campus sentry]'s duties, the [campus sentry] points a fire rm at an individual. The aforementioned report shall include:**
- **(i) a description of the incident;**
- **(ii) the identification of the individuals involved in the incident; and**
- **(iii) any other information required by the state security chief.**
