What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Business Development position at iRiS Recruiting Solutions?
Indianapolis Market – Director of Business Development (Commercial Construction)
I don’t post roles like this often.
I’m working on a Director of Business Development opportunity here in Indianapolis, and it’s one of the more strategic seats I’ve been involved with this year.
This is not a “go sell harder” type of role.
This is for someone who understands how work actually gets won in this market—
long-term relationships, credibility with owners, and the ability to position a contractor early in the process.
What makes this different:
- You’re stepping into a company with a strong reputation and existing pipeline, not a blank slate
- Focus on healthcare, water/wastewater, and complex institutional work
- High visibility with leadership—this is a seat at the table, not a reporting function buried in marketing
- Real influence over which pursuits the company goes after and how they’re positioned
What I’m looking for:
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with owners, developers, and decision-makers in Indy
- Someone who can see around corners—understands where projects originate, not just when they hit the street
- Background in commercial construction, engineering, or related BD leadership
- Comfortable operating with autonomy and accountability
If you’ve built a network in Indianapolis and you’re thinking bigger about how you want to impact a business—not just your own book—this is worth a conversation.
