Job description

Job Type: Full-time | Location: Childress, Texas | Department: Construction | Reporting to: Project Execution Manager | Work Location: #onsite

IREN is a leading AI Cloud Service Provider, delivering large-scale GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s vertically integrated platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and data centers in renewable-rich regions across the U.S. and Canada.

The Mechanical QA/QC Manager plays a critical leadership role in delivering the mechanical integrity behind next-generation, mission-critical data centers. In this position, you’ll own and drive the mechanical quality strategy across multiple large-scale construction and retrofit projects, with a strong focus on advanced liquid cooling systems that enable high-performance compute environments. You’ll lead and mentor QA/QC Supervisors and Inspectors, partner closely with Engineering, Construction, and Commissioning leadership, and serve as the mechanical quality authority—setting standards, mitigating risk, and ensuring every system meets the highest levels of performance, safety, and reliability throughout the project lifecycle.

With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical QA/QC or inspection in industrial construction, including at least 5 years with liquid cooling systems in data centers or similar environments.

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience developing QA/QC plans, processes, and inspection strategies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Expertise with quality management systems, audit processes, and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.

Other important requirements:

  • Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
  • Must provide own steel-toed work boots; other PPE will be supplied.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the work site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work.
  • Must be comfortable working a rotational schedule, which includes day and night shifts as well as weekend work, based on project needs.
  • Employees working night shifts will receive a 15% premium added to their hourly rate only for hours worked during night shifts.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical QA/QC program across multiple data center projects, ensuring alignment with company quality standards and client requirements.
  • Manage and develop QA/QC Supervisors, inspectors, and subcontractor quality teams.
  • Establish, refine, and enforce mechanical QA/QC procedures, inspection test plans (ITPs), and quality documentation standards.
  • Oversee inspection activities, non-conformance management, and quality assurance processes at the program level.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, and Commissioning leadership to ensure integrated project planning and risk mitigation.
  • Support design reviews and provide quality input on constructability, liquid cooling design, and mechanical system performance requirements.
  • Lead root cause analyses and corrective action planning for quality issues across sites.
  • Review and approve final QA/QC documentation packages for project turnover.
  • Track key quality metrics and report performance trends to executive leadership.
