IREN is a leading AI Cloud Service Provider, delivering large-scale GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s vertically integrated platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and data centers in renewable-rich regions across the U.S. and Canada.

We're seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Advisor to champion the health, safety, and environmental protection of employees across our data center operations. This role plays a critical part in strengthening IREN’s safety culture by partnering with all departments to ensure regulatory compliance, identify and control workplace hazards, and proactively reduce risk before issues arise.

With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or recognized professional certification in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of HSE experience in construction, utilities, electrical infrastructure, data centers, or industrial operations.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance principles, and industry best practices.
  • Track record of implementing or supporting structured HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or equivalent).
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to coach, influence, and collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated capability in hazard identification, risk assessment, and recommending practical, high-impact controls.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking ability, with a consultative and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Solid understanding of construction and electrical infrastructure activities, including permit-to-work, LOTO, and high-risk task management.
  • Ability to execute plans and hold teams accountable to defined performance outcomes.
  • Results-driven mindset with a sense of urgency and willingness to challenge the status quo to drive continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with software platforms for compliance tracking, incident management, training, and reporting.
  • Ability to travel periodically in support of IREN’s network of regional data centers and prospective U.S. sites.

Other important requirements:

  • Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
  • Must provide own steel-toed work boots; other PPE will be supplied.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the work site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work.
  • Must be comfortable working a rotational schedule, which includes day and night shifts as well as weekend work, based on project needs.
  • Employees working night shifts will receive a 15% premium added to their hourly rate only for hours worked during night shifts.

Job responsibilities

  • Implement and continuously enhance the EHS Management System to ensure well-defined, fit-for-purpose processes that address business needs, mitigate risks, and seize opportunities.
  • Champion a proactive culture of continuous improvement and lead effective change management within a fast-growing, multi-jurisdictional, and multicultural organization.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of health, safety, and environmental risks to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Perform routine audits of safety and environmental performance to verify alignment with regulatory requirements and IREN’s internal policies.
  • Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of safety and environmental data, including key performance indicators and site-specific outcomes.
  • Participate in incident investigations, provide actionable recommendations, and share key learnings to drive site-wide improvements in HSE practices.
  • Collaborate with the site safety manager to develop and execute annual health, safety, and training goals, ensuring measurable progress and successful implementation.
