IR Centers at Michigan Institute of Urology is a multidisciplinary private practice endovascular lab in Troy, MI. We are leading minimally invasive procedures at 30 locations across the U.S. by providing interventional radiology services in an outpatient setting. We are hiring a Medical Receptionist / Surgical Scheduler.

As a Medical Receptionist / Surgical Scheduler, you’ll play a key role in welcoming patients, checking them in for their appointments, and managing referral calls. Your primary responsibility will be reaching out to referred patients to schedule consultations and procedures in a timely, professional manner.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of medical scheduling experience
- English
- Bilingual (Preferred)
Responsibilities:
- Greet callers warmly & provide courteous service
- Understand the responsibility of serving as the first point of contact for patients at our practice
- Use sound judgment in handling calls, especially when dealing with highly sensitive medical information
- Answers calls within three-four rings
- When scheduling patients, be sure to add and update demographics and insurance information for patients thoroughly & accurately
- Confirm, cancel, reschedule and update patient appointments at request of patient and/or provider
- Use the EMR system to match physician/clinician availability with the patient's needs and preferences in terms of date and time
- Able to accurately schedule appointments based on clinic and practice guidelines and specifications
- Maintain and regularly update scheduling systems so patient records are accurate and complete and can be used to analyze patient/staffing needs and patterns
- Communicates as needed with physicians/clinicians and other staff about any patient concerns/issues related to scheduling. Consults with the office manager about any system problems
- Effectively communicate and complete requests from other medical offices (faxing patient medical records, or other information as requested)
- Address patient concerns efficiently and effectively
- Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly
- Other clerical duties as assigned by the office manager/administrator
Skills:
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
- Skilled in effectively communicating with patients and clinicians about scheduling
- Able to multitask in a pleasant, professional manner, including handling a multi-line phone system
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills to ensure patient satisfaction
- Demonstrates teamwork, flexibility, and a positive attitude in all interactions
- Proficient in the use of computers and related software such as Microsoft Office and EMR systems
