Job Title:        Maintenance Technician, 2nd Shift
Reports to:     Maintenance/Engineering or other plant leadership representative
Department:   Maintenance
 
Summary:                                                                                                                                                                     
The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
 
 
Duties:                                                                                                                                                               
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, chiller, heater, plumbing troubleshooting and repair of production machines
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  • Comply with safety regulations (ex. LOTO) and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Champions programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness and 5S protocols. Ensures maintenance shop equipment is kept in good working order.
  •  Monitors use/inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies and equipment to ensure adequate level of stock on hand.
  • Effectively completes tasks assigned from computerized maintenance management system (CMMS ex. MaintainX) within timeline assigned and of high quality.
  • Effectively supports operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity (SQDIP) metrics including but not limited to completing countermeasures, problem solving/investigating root cause analysis, and sustaining corrective measures.

Qualifications:

Education/ Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Ability - Ability to add and subtract two digits numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, and volume.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet, word processing, Database software, and E-mail

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in high, precarious places up to elevation of 175 feet.
  • Walking; standing; climbing; balancing; crouching; reaching; good hand/eye coordination; must be able to see, hear, and talk.
  • Ability to work before or after regular production hours to implement improvements to limit downtime and impact to the customer.
Environmental conditions the employee is subject to in this position.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Inside - Protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Noise – There is sufficient noise at all times to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. May occasionally need to enter filling room where hearing protection and eye protection is required.
