Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead planning, execution, and continuous improvement across a large-scale Agile product organization. The ideal candidate will drive Agile Release Train (ART) activities, facilitate enterprise planning events, optimize delivery flow, and ensure predictable, high-quality software delivery by promoting Agile, DevOps, and Continuous Delivery best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Planning at Scale
Facilitate Big Room Planning (BRP), Inspect & Adapt (I&A), and other Program Increment (PI) planning events.
Coordinate post-planning activities and communicate planning outcomes to stakeholders.
Lead monthly planning sessions and product-specific planning ceremonies.
Foster collaboration across Product Management, Engineering, Architecture, QA, and business stakeholders.
Execution Management
Lead Agile Release Train ceremonies and execution rhythms.
Track progress against committed PI objectives and delivery milestones.
Identify, manage, and resolve cross-team dependencies, risks, and impediments.
Promote DevOps, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), engineering excellence, AI-assisted development tools, and DORA metrics.
Drive improvements in delivery maturity and execution effectiveness.
Flow Optimization
Manage and prioritize the end-to-end feature backlog.
Monitor flow metrics and optimize value delivery across teams.
Identify bottlenecks and improve throughput and delivery predictability.
Continuous Improvement
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across Agile processes, tools, governance, and delivery practices.
Lead implementation of organizational and workstream improvement initiatives.
Promote a culture of operational excellence and continuous learning.
Agile Coaching
Coach teams on Agile methodologies, SAFe practices, SDLC, DevOps, and enterprise delivery standards.
Guide teams on Product Operating Model (POM), Agile Playbook, annual planning, Enterprise Change Management (ECM), Technology Change Management (TCM), EFT, ERFT, and RDL guidelines.
Mentor Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and delivery teams to improve Agile maturity.
Reporting & Metrics
Develop dashboards and reports to improve delivery visibility.
Monitor and report key metrics including:
PI Objective Predictability
Roadmap Delivery
CI/CO Achievement
DORA Metrics
Delivery Performance
Governance Compliance
Required Qualifications
8 years of IT experience with 3 years as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) in large-scale Agile/SAFe environments.
Strong experience with SAFe Agile Framework, Agile Release Trains (ART), and Program Increment (PI) Planning.
Hands-on experience facilitating BRP, I&A, Scrum of Scrums, and other SAFe ceremonies.
Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, SDLC, DevOps, and Continuous Delivery practices.
Experience managing cross-functional teams, dependencies, risks, and enterprise delivery.
Experience using Agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or similar.
Strong stakeholder management, coaching, facilitation, and communication skills.
Ability to leverage metrics and dashboards to improve delivery predictability and execution performance.
Preferred Qualifications
SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification.
Experience with DORA metrics and engineering productivity initiatives.
Knowledge of AI-enabled software development tools.
Experience in Banking or Financial Services environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
