What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maritime Electrical Engineer position at iO Associates?
We're seeking an Electrical Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to support the design, integration, testing, and deployment of electrical and automation systems for offshore platforms and remote-operated infrastructure.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Design and integrate low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, control cabinets, instrumentation, and electrical equipment.
- Develop one-line diagrams, grounding plans, load analyses, wiring schematics, and electrical documentation.
- Support automation and controls integration, including PLCs, sensors, actuators, and remote-operation interfaces.
- Work with telemetry and data systems to collect, transmit, and monitor real-time operational data.
- Assist with equipment selection, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field integration activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across mechanical, structural, controls, and marine systems.
- Support system testing, validation, and deployment in real-world operational environments.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in electrical system design within marine, industrial, aerospace, energy, or similar complex engineering environments.
- Experience with power distribution, instrumentation, controls, automation, and electrical documentation.
- Familiarity with PLC-based systems, industrial communication protocols, and sensor integration.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar electrical design tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a systems-level engineering mindset.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with offshore, maritime, industrial, or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Exposure to commissioning, FAT/SAT testing, and field integration.
- Knowledge of ABS, NEC, IEC, IEEE, USCG, or related regulatory standards.
- Interest in autonomous systems, launch operations, aerospace, or advanced maritime technologies.
