- Research deeds, mortgages, easements, judgments, probate records, plats, court filings, and other recorded documents.
- Apply underwriting guidelines and company standards to produce accurate title examinations and reports.
- Evaluate title risks and determine insurability based on established underwriting practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams and third-party providers to resolve title issues and support the underwriting process.
- Prepare and deliver accurate title reports and supporting search documentation.
- Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, and team members throughout the title examination process.
- Five or more years of title examination experience, with Michigan experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Michigan real property records and title examination practices.
- Experience researching county land records and other public records.
- Ability to interpret legal documents, including deeds, mortgages, easements, probate records, plats, judgments, and court filings.
- Knowledge of title insurance underwriting principles and curative procedures.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet production deadlines.
- Preferred experience with platforms such as SoftPro, Qualia, TitleData, DataTrace, TitlePoint, title plants, or online county research systems.
