Schedule: Monday–Friday | Approximately 50 Hours per Week (5 x 10-hour shifts)

Pay Rate: $55.00/hour

Overtime Rate: $82.50/hour

Per Diem: $175/day (for eligible travelers)

Travel: Personal vehicle required for mobilization

Position Overview

ISS is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to support a commercial rooftop solar installation project in Rialto, California.

This consultant will provide field leadership and safety oversight during the installation of a large-scale rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system. The role requires an experienced construction safety professional capable of building strong relationships with contractors while maintaining a visible field presence and promoting safe work practices throughout all phases of construction.

The successful candidate will have experience supporting renewable energy, commercial construction, electrical work, or similar high-risk construction environments and be comfortable working alongside multiple trades in an active project setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily construction safety oversight for rooftop solar installation activities.
• Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and field observations.
• Monitor contractor compliance with applicable OSHA regulations, site safety requirements, and project-specific safety plans.
• Support hazard identification and implementation of effective corrective actions.
• Participate in pre-task planning, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and daily safety meetings.
• Coach field personnel and subcontractors on safe work practices.
• Monitor work involving:
• Fall protection
• Electrical safety
• Crane operations
• Material handling
• Scaffolding
• Elevated work
• Document observations, incidents, and corrective actions using the project's safety management platform.
• Participate in incident investigations and assist with root cause analysis.
• Communicate effectively with project management, contractors, and field personnel to promote continuous safety improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of construction safety experience.
• Experience supporting commercial construction, industrial construction, renewable energy, utility-scale solar, or similar projects.
• Strong understanding of OSHA Construction Standards.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
• Ability to work approximately 50 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications

One or more of the following certifications is preferred:

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST)
• OSHA 500
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction

Additional preferred experience includes:

• Commercial or utility solar construction
• Rooftop solar installation
• Electrical construction
• Scaffolding safety
• Crane and rigging operations
• Multi-contractor construction environments

Work Environment

This position is performed primarily in an active commercial construction environment and includes:

• Extensive walking and standing
• Frequent roof access
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
• Working around energized electrical equipment
• Interaction with multiple construction trades
• Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Travel & Reimbursement

• Personal vehicle required for project mobilization.
• Mileage reimbursed at the current IRS rate based on approved travel distances.
• Travel time compensated at 50% of the standard hourly rate.
• Eligible travel days include applicable per diem reimbursement.
• Standard PPE will be provided.
