About Us

We are a growing, medium-sized bakery manufacturer based in New Jersey, dedicated to producing high-quality baked goods for retail and wholesale customers. As our operations expand, we are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to join our finance team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost management, and compliance with accounting standards.

Position Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting management with timely reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and excellent communication across departments. This role also involves designing and implementing financial procedures and systems to ensure accurate data collection throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger accounts, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments and customer invoicing.
• Oversee payroll preparation and assist with employee expense reporting.
• Track bakery production costs, raw material usage, and inventory adjustments to ensure accurate costing.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations (including sales tax and payroll tax filings).
• Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
• Partner with operations and procurement teams to monitor inventory, wastage, and production efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in financial management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or food production.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting/ERP software (e.g., SAP Business One, QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management abilities.
