We are working on a rare opportunity for an experienced Intellectual Property Attorney to join a leading national law firm's highly regarded Intellectual Property and Technology practice in California. This role offers the opportunity to handle sophisticated intellectual property, technology, privacy, and artificial intelligence matters for a diverse client base.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing complex litigation matters while also advising clients on emerging issues relating to data privacy, AI governance, technology transactions, internet law, and intellectual property protection. Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse intellectual property and technology litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
- Advise clients on intellectual property, data privacy, technology, and AI governance matters.
- Prosecute and defend disputes involving copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, trade libel, rights of privacy, and rights of publicity.
- Handle data privacy litigation and regulatory compliance matters.
- Develop and review privacy notices, internal privacy and security policies, risk assessments, and compliance procedures.
- Advise clients on AI governance, data governance, and third-party risk management programmes.
- Support clients with internal training relating to privacy, cybersecurity, and AI compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial and technology agreements, including licensing, software development, collaboration, and creative asset agreements.
- Conduct depositions, prepare and argue motions, and represent clients in federal and state court proceedings.
- Work closely with partners and colleagues on complex legal projects and strategic client matters.
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide regular updates and case reporting.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in the State of California.
- 5–15 years of experience in intellectual property litigation.
- Strong federal and state court litigation experience.
- Demonstrated experience drafting and arguing substantive motions.
- Experience taking and defending depositions.
- Knowledge of copyright, trademark, trade secret, and related IP disputes.
- Experience with privacy, AI governance, data governance, or data privacy litigation is strongly preferred.
- Experience in advertising law, internet law, fashion law, art law, or technology transactions is advantageous.
- Proven analytical, research, writing, and advocacy skills.
- Excellent communication and client management abilities.
- Legal project management experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated thought leadership within the intellectual property field is highly desirable.
