The Role: What You’ll Actually Be Doing
As an Entry-Level Technical Recruiter, you’ll start on the candidate delivery side of recruitment. This means your focus is on finding, qualifying, and managing technical talent. You’ll be coached daily and expected to work hard, with phone time, measurable targets.
After you’ve demonstrated success sourcing and managing candidates, you’ll transition into a full-cycle (360) recruiter role, managing your own accounts and building your client base.
This is a sales-driven role. It involves consistent outreach, resilience, and persistence.
Candidate Delivery (First 6 Months)
You’ll be trained on:
- How to find technical candidates (developers, administrators, architects, etc.) using tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, Boolean searches, and referrals.
- How to call candidates confidently, qualify them properly, and build trust, you’ll have to do this dozens of times a day.
- How to understand technical job requirements and match the right candidate to the right opportunity.
- How to manage candidate relationships throughout the process, including prepping for interviews, negotiating offers, and handling objections or counteroffers.
- How to work closely with experienced recruiters and support them by delivering top-quality candidates to their open roles.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Making 60–80 outbound calls daily to new candidates
- Writing and posting job ads to attract inbound applicants
- Qualifying 8-10 new candidates per day
- Following up with candidates and keeping them warm, informed, and engaged
- Updating and managing the internal CRM (ATS) with candidate info and notes
- Attending daily team meetings, trainings, and 1:1s with your manager
360 Recruitment (After 6 Months)
Once you’ve proven your ability to manage candidates and hit your performance goals, you’ll move into a 360 recruiter role. This includes everything in the first 6 months plus:
New business development:
- Researching and identifying companies hiring in your niche
- Cold calling potential clients to pitch your services and open a conversation
- Booking and attending video meetings with hiring managers and decision-makers
- Gaining a deep understanding of client hiring needs and building job requirements
- Negotiating terms of business and managing client relationships directly
Full-cycle recruitment:
- Managing both the client and candidate sides of the hiring process
- Coordinating interviews, providing feedback, and managing offer negotiations
- Closing deals and earning commission on every placement you make
- Building a long-term book of business through repeat clients and referrals
